Hannah Montana Costume - Should You Buy One Or Make Your Own?
With the meteoric rise of Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana, this costume is highly sought after. My daughter is no exception. It’s not even Halloween yet, but she feels she just has to have this item for attending Hannah parties or for pretend play.
After an exhaustive search, I have learned that there is really only one Hannah costume that has been released in the last few years. It is known as either the deluxe or the disney model. It features a white top, black skirt, leggings, boot covers, and a wig. Because there are not many of these to be found, this item can be pretty expensive, starting at about $50. It is nearly impossible to find this product in a specific size or on a specific time line. The product itself looks reasonably acceptable, but in my opinion, the drawbacks are the cheap wig and the boot covers, which aren’t real boots but black fabric that covers regular shoes.
Although I may buy this official item for my daughter when and if I can find her size, a better option might be to just make our own. All we really need are Hannah Montana jeans, jacket, boots, wig, and maybe some earrings and a microphone to make the ensemble complete.
By doing this ourselves, I can make sure that the clothing she is wearing is actually decent quality and something she might wear more than a few times. Plus, she can personalize it and I can make sure it is age appropriate. Luckily, these items are generally inexpensive and readily available. Depending on how extravagant we wish to be, we could probably put the whole thing together for under $75, including a very high quality wig and real, not fake, boots.
Whether to buy the product or make your own is a personal decision, but you should know with a little searching and a bit of imagination, both are within your reach.
